Checking In: Woodlark Hotel - Portland, OR
This blog post was made in collaboration with the Woodlark Hotel and Provenance Hotels. All my opinions are my own.
I’m a fan of the growing portfolio of boutique hotels owned and managed by Provenance Hotels. They first won my heart when they enhanced and improved, Hotel deLuxe and Hotel Dossier.
Now, each time I visit one of their new properties, I’m paying close attention to how creatively and responsibly they revamp vintage spaces and create new places that feel as if they’ve been welcoming guests for years. The still-new Woodlark in Portland, which opened last December 2018, is no exception.
As with the Dossier a block away, the Woodlark blends two historic downtown buildings. This time it is the former Cornelius Hotel and the Woodlark Building, which have become a 150-room retro-modern hotel that feels as if it’s always been right here.
As a lovely ode to the Cornelius Hotel, they’ve reclaimed the original slogan: House of Welcome.
Woodlark Hotel sits in the bustling scene of Downtown Portland merging together two of the city’s most historic buildings into one. Surrounded by the rich culture and unbeatable landscapes surrounding Stumptown, Woodlark Hotel seamlessly translates the style of the sophisticated Pacific Northwest with innovative and thoughtful design.
The Room
The hotel has 11 different room variations – from standard rooms that measure 230-260 square feet to a 415-square-foot loft suite with a spiral staircase. Each room has custom-designed furnishings, natural wood, and specially-created wallpaper featuring flora found in Portland’s Forest Park. As a bonus, each room also has a framed botanical print by noted photographer Imogen Cunningham, who was born in Portland.
The Woodlark encouraging guests to relax and take in all the Northwest has to offer. You’ll love that a good night’s sleep is guaranteed with a pillow menu waiting in each room, and it’s eco-personality of rewarding travelers that opt out of daily housekeeping services. Besides the plush bathrobes and the MiN bath amenities, some of the in-room touches I appreciate at this hotel include bedside tables with multiple integrated charging options, an excellent Bluetooth speaker, and coupons to swap for strong drip coffee at the comfortable Good Coffee café in the lobby.
Amenities
Like all of Providence Hotel properties, Woodlark offers up some of the best. Stay fit in the comfort of your room with streamed, online workouts from fitness industry experts through first of its kind interactive mirror workout technology. Yes, I tested out the new gadget that streams fitness programs – from a mirror! If you’d instead hit the gym, sweat it out in their fully equipped, state of the art fitness facility. Take in the artwork on display throughout the property made by local artists.
Take advantage of the Woodlark Guide offered by the hotel giving guests all the inside information on the neighborhood and activities around Portland.
