    What is SafetyWing Nomad Insurance?

SafetyWing Nomad Insurance is a travel medical insurance policy designed for digital nomads and long-term travelers. It covers both emergency medical expenses as well as evacuation and repatriation. SafetyWing pricing differs from most other insurance providers – instead of charging a flat rate, they charge a daily rate, making it more affordable for long-term travelers. In the past, I’ve used SafetyWing Nomad Insurance during long-term travel when I’m gone for 2-6 months at a time, and I’ve always been pleased with them. Luckily, I’ve never had to file a claim.

Nomad Insurance vs Remote Health Insurance

While this review is to share insight on SaftyWing’s Nomad Insurance, to help you make the best-guided decision, we’ll touch on both SaftyWing products.

One of the most common questions about SafetyWing is, "What's the difference between SafetyWing Nomad Insurance and Remote Health Insurance?" The answer is quite simple: Remote Health Insurance is designed for digital nomads who already have health insurance in their home country but need additional coverage when traveling abroad. SafetyWing, on the other hand, is designed for those who don't already have health insurance or need comprehensive coverage while away from home.

Pricing Comparison: How does SafetyWing compare to other providers?

In terms of pricing, SafetyWing is very competitive with other insurers that offer similar plans. For example, a Health and Medical plan with $500,000 in coverage will cost you $42 per month with SafetyWing’s Nomad Inruacne, compared to $142 per month with WorldNomads. And, expect to $206 per month for Remote Health Insurance. However, it's important to keep in mind that each insurer offers different levels of coverage, so be sure to compare apples to apples when looking at prices.

As a budget-conscious traveler, cost was a significant factor in my decision-making process. SafetyWing Nomad Insurance offers a pocket-friendly price tag without compromising on coverage. Their monthly payment plan is perfect for nomads like me who prefer flexibility over long-term commitments. It's great to know that I can pause or cancel my coverage at any time without any extra fees.

What are the benefits of SafetyWing Nomad Insurance?

SafetyWing Nomad Insurance has several benefits that make it an attractive option for digital nomads and long-term travelers. For starters, it covers emergency medical expenses, evacuation, and repatriation. This is important because if you get sick or injured while traveling, you want to ensure that you have coverage in case you need to be evacuated or repatriated back to your home country.

SafetyWing Nomad Insurance also covers you in more than 170 countries. That means you'll be covered no matter where your travels take you. And unlike other insurance policies, SafetyWing has no exclusions for dangerous activities like bungee jumping or skydiving. So if you're adventurous, this policy is definitely for you.

One of the great things about SafetyWing Nomad Insurance is it's relatively affordable and offers a clear pricing structure that takes the guessing out of the equation. Prices will only change depending on your age and whether you want to include travel to the United States.  The Nomad Insurance policy also allows a child under 10 to be insured on an adult's policy for no extra charge. There is a maximum of 2 children allowed per family on the policy without an added cost. So, if you’re a family of 4, this is incredibly cost-effective.

    How much is SaftyWing?

SafetyWing pricing is very affordable – especially for long-term travelers who may have difficulty finding affordable insurance options. Third, the policy is designed specifically for digital nomads and long-term travelers, so it takes into account their needs and provides coverage accordingly.

For just $42 per month, you can get a $250 deductible, a $250,000 max limit, coverage for medical expenses, repatriation, travel delays, and more. That's a great deal considering that most other insurance policies will cost you at least twice as much.

You can if you’re from the US and want to add coverage for US Travel, the price does jump up to $77 per month. However, you must know that this policy only covers incidental visits home. That means you can’t return home to get treatment for an injury or illness that started while abroad. For every 90 days, you are covered for up to 30 days in your home country for unforeseen medical conditions. This goes down to 15 days if you’re from the United States.

The Remote Health policy covers you all year in your home country and abroad. It’s important to note that the Remote Health policy is affected by taxes, location, and other factors.

Is SafetyWing Nomad Insurance right for me?

SafetyWing Nomad Insurance might be right for you if you are a digital nomad or long-term traveler looking for an affordable and comprehensive travel medical insurance policy. However, it is important to remember that no two travelers are alike and what might be right for one person might not be right for another. Ultimately, the best way to decide if SafetyWing Nomad Insurance is right for you is to read the policy documents carefully and ensure that it meets your specific needs.
