This is my favourite sea-sun! Can I be more Pacific?

I tried period swimwear for the first time, and here's what happened…

    The honest truth.

Ladies, I don't know about you, but I hate missing out on a perfect day at the beach all because of my time of the month. Thanks to Ruby Love Period Proof Swimwear, beach days can be a lot less stressful.

I must admit, when the opportunity arose to trial period swimwear specifically designed to act as a substitute for menstrual cups, pads, and tampons during that time of the month, I was a little apprehensive.

It sounded dangerous and, if anything, a little messy. However, given I was keen on an eco-friendly and cost-effective replacement to the current products on the market, I decided to give it a try.

How is the quality of the fabric?

There is good reason why RubyLove Swimwear is a go-to brand for women looking for something that makes them feel confident and beautiful in the pool or on the beach. The brand offers a wide variety of styles and designs, so there's something for everyone.

The fabric's quality is impressive - it's both soft and sturdy, which is perfect for swimming. The swimsuits also fit really well, which is great for active women who want to move around without feeling constricted. Ruby Love Swimwear is a great choice for anyone looking for high-quality period swimwear.

First impressions of Ruby Period Swimwear

My period arrived as if by magic, the evening after the swimwear arrived in the mail. It was almost as if my body was excited about the experiment.

I was excited to put Ruby Love's Period Swimwear Classic Racerback Bae Watch in Red in an XS ($90) to the test. It fit perfectly, and it was comfy as well. They have a swimsuit fabric feel, and you can definitely feel with your hands that the gusset is a little thicker than usual, but it isn't like a pad is stuffed in there. It's subtle. The bottom feels nice on, super smooth and trustworthy, and they don't look at all like I thought they would on, but that may be because I was pessimistically predicting some sort of frumpy situation.

Putting hold up when put to the test?

The beach is somewhere I often worry about my period as everything is safely tucked away in my menstrual cup. But now my menstruation was out and about; I felt super self-conscious and slipped back to my 12-year-old just-started-my-period-mindset where I was convinced that everybody (and I mean everybody) knew it was the time of the month.

Ironically, during this time, San Francisco was experiencing a heatwave, almost hitting triple-digit days, perfect for beach time. When I got to the beach, I was hesitant. Even more, it was so hot out that going into the ocean was a likely option to cool down. (If you're familiar with Northern California beaches, the coast is COLD!) After getting into the water and spending a day at the beach, I was happily surprised that there was zero blood on my legs or leakage. WIN!

What is Period Swimwear and Does It Really Work?

    Does Ruby Period Swimwear Work?

Just as promised, no leaks, no stains, and no worries as this suit provide full protection! The built-in absorbent liner is made of organic cotton and can be worn with or without additional protection.

No period cups (or tampons) are required! No swelling in water. No odors, no plastics, and easy to wash! I'll be honest, I was very skeptical about this at first, but after the first use, it proved to me what a fantastic product Ruby Love is.

Just as a heads up, you will have to wash these ones pretty intensely, but the blood does come out. Promise.

Is Ruby Period Swimwear Worth It?

I have to admit, I am a bit of a convert. I would probably avoid using these at the peak of your period if you have crazy periods—but for the start and end of your flow, these are a great alternative to your typical swimwear.

These are so good for the environment. Think about all the waste that's involved with other sanitary products, and compare that to a simple hand-wash of these five pairs that you need to get through a period and, theoretically, could last you a lifetime.

Get amongst the period swimwear, ladies!
